A moss-covered war machine in a birch forest, one red sensor still glowing

A hundred years later

The world after the machines

No zombies, no mutants, no radiation. Just forest, birds, silence — and ruins still full of useful things.

01Setting

A bright post-apocalypse

The machine war ended a hundred years ago. The city didn’t burn to the ground or turn into a wasteland — it grew over. The age of war is over; this is the age of nature.

  • A post-Soviet city: apartment blocks, bus stops, power lines, substations and courtyards
  • A living temperate forest: birches, pines, aspens, fireweed, fireflies
  • Day and night, fog, rain, wind and thunderstorms
  • A dense, handcrafted district instead of miles of emptiness

02Map

A district waiting for light

A dozen places, each with its own parts and secrets. Pick a spot on the map, switch to night and power the district.

Powered 1/10
  1. Home, workshop and workbench. Everything starts here — and this is where Ohm waited for a hundred years.

  2. The heart of the district. Start it up and light will flow down the streets. Protect it from lightning first.

  3. Rows of stalls full of radios, tubes and circuit boards. The best place for radio parts.

  4. Batteries, alternators, relays, headlights and miles of wire.

  5. A physics classroom full of instruments and posters. And in the pantry, honey and salt have survived a century.

  6. A closed institute behind a concrete fence. Microchips, displays — and doors nobody has opened in a long time.

  7. A dam on the river. Fix the turbine and you’ll have power day and night.

  8. The highest point in the district. You can see far from here — and hear far too.

  9. Hundreds of garages, each with something different: tools, motors, spare parts, someone’s pickles.

  10. Wild orchards: apples, currants, honey and seeds for your own garden.

03Threats

What’s dangerous here

Wolves by the fence at night

Nature

Animals

Wolves, boars, a lynx and a bear guard their territory and grow bolder at night. You don’t clear them out — you scare them off with light, sirens and electric fences.

A thunderstorm and lightning over an overgrown substation

The main enemy

The weather

Rain shorts exposed wiring, wind knocks down poles, lightning fries unprotected circuits. Fuses, diodes, grounding and lightning rods are your armour.

Combat robots from the machine war

Echoes of war

Dormant machines

Guard drones and wartime automatons doze on solar panels. You don’t beat them in combat — you cut their power. And inside are valuable motors and chips.

04Mystery

A voice on the air

For a hundred years the airwaves were silent. Now a homemade receiver picks up a signal: repeating numbers and call signs. Someone — or something — is still broadcasting.

A crystal radio, a Morse key, walkie-talkies, a direction finder, relays on rooftops. The better your radio, the more of the world opens up.

Turn the receiver on and tune it. Hint: radio amateurs love 7 MHz.

05Survival

The forest feeds you

A forest that grew over a city is richer than a wild one: feral orchards, dachas, ponds and old storehouses. Survival here is cozy — it sets the rhythm of your day instead of torturing you.

  • Wild strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries
  • Lingonberries
  • Mushrooms (poisonous too)
  • Hazelnuts
  • Birch sap
  • Fireweed tea
  • Apples and pears
  • Currants
  • Honey
  • Fish and crayfish

Honey in a sealed jar keeps for centuries — a valuable find. A bulging can of stew, however, is off the menu: Ohm won’t even touch it.

Wires and circuits once destroyed this world.
Now they can bring it back.
